Alexah is a multidisciplinary, London-based public artist, researcher, and theatre practitioner. She holds a first-class honours BA in Theatre and Performance and an MA with distinction in Public Art and Performative Practices.
The intersection of performance, installations, sound design, writing, and directing informs her distinctive artistic approach. Specialising in performativity and immersive experiences, Alexah creates art that is both a visual and auditory experience, seamlessly weaving together composed words, meaningful movements, and soundscapes into a cohesive narrative.
Central to her work is the exploration of historical elements and their impact on contemporary society, with a focus on feminist themes and the pervasive influence of patriarchy. Alexah's art is not merely a display but an invitation for the audience to uncover personal connections and meanings, engaging deeply with the narratives she presents.
In her latest project, Echoes of Labour, Alexah draws on her recent experiences of childbirth to explore the evolution of maternal care, the persistence of medical paternalism, and the dismissal of women’s voices. As with much of her work, this project reflects her commitment to amplifying the voices of women that are often marginalised or ignored and challenging societal norms through powerful, immersive experiences.
As the Echoes of Labour continues to evolve, she remains dedicated to exploring new dimensions in her art, pushing boundaries, and creating work that resonates both personally and collectively.
